14. Do you work countermen as outside salesmen on alternating days of the week?

If you have a counterperson/outside salespeople plan for rotating your employee inside and outside, remember that the outside salesperson loses their exempt status if they spend less than 80% of their time outside. The example, for the outside sales work they could be paid commissions, and divided into weekly earnings for both jobs would yield the average hourly rate on which overtime would be computed. This rate could not fall below the statutory minimum.
